During his time with the Crimson Tide, he led the team to a 42-6 overall record, an held a Southeastern Conference record of 20.3 average yards per catch for 20 years. He was named the Alabama Player of the Decade in the 1970s, winning two All-SEC player awards and the SEC Lineman of the Year Awards. He did not miss a single season during his 13 year NFL career and played 198 consecutive games as a Brown.
