Born in Bruceton, Tennesee, Willis had a very rough childhood, as his mother, Loretta Lynn Anderson left him and his three other siblings to their father Ernest at a very young age. Ernest in turn became a drunkard and an addict and physically abused his children. When he reached 17 years old, Willis moved to a trailer park and was later on joined by his siblings when the abuse became too much. Eventually, the four siblings were able to move to a proper home when Willis’ coach welcomed them into his home.
While Willis’ personal life was a wreck, his school became a haven and he succeeded in playing American Football for Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School. He became an All-State selection twice, and was named West Tennessee Player of the Year and the Regional Most Valuable Player. With his success, colleges left and right offered him scholarships to play for their team.
Willis chose to study at and play for University of Mississippi, and immediately became one of their star athletes. During his four years with the Ole Miss Rebels, he became a two-time First-team All-SEC and a two-time All-American. In his last year, he was rewarded with the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, the Jack Lambert Award and the highly acclaimed Dick Butkus Award for his exceptional performance as his teams’ linebacker. Importantly also, Patrick graduated with a degree in criminal justice.
In 2007, Willis signed a 7-year contract with the NFL team the San Francisco 49ers, when he was drafted as the 11th overall pick. His new contract tremendously helped his net worth and he became an athlete to watch out for. Some of his achievements playing for the 49ers include being selected for the Pro Bowl seven times from the start of his career in 2007 until 2013, the NFL Linebacker of the Year three times, and a 49ers MVP twice.
Aside from playing for the NFL, Willis also endorsed products like Rockin’ Refuel, ASICS and Foot Locker that also increased his wealth.
Although Willis had an amazing run playing for the 49ers, unfortunately he was forced to quit in 2015 due to a serious toe injury.
Today, Willis has made a career change from running on the field to running a tech company in Silicon Valley. Upon moving to California, he met Eren Niazi who started the company Open Source Storage; after a couple of talks Niazi appointed Willis as the company’s Executive Vice President for Partnerships, and he also sits as one of its board members. His new found success in the corporate world has become his new source of wealth.
In terms of his personal life, Willis is yet to marry, but is dating Shenai Saifi.
