Virginia Patterson Hensley was born on 8th September 1932, in Winchester, Virginia USA, and was a country music singer under her stage name of Patsy Cline, most famous for performing her hit singles “Walkin’After Midnight”, “Sweet Dreams”, “She’s Got You” and “I Fall to Pieces”. In the late 1950s, Patsy made a successful “crossover” to pop music, and to this day is remembered as one of the most influential female vocalists of the 20th century. She tragically passed away at the age of 30, on the 5th March 1963 in Camden, Tennessee, USA, after a plane crash.

Have you ever wondered how much wealth she would have today? How rich would Patsy Cline be? According to sources, it is estimated that the total amount of Patsy Cline, as of early 2017, would be over $10 million. It is no wonder that it would be such an impressive sum, as the total number of Patsy Cline’s sold albums exceeds several millions.

Patsy Cline Net Worth $10 million

Patsy was the eldest of three children of Hilda Virginia, a seamstress and Samuel Lawrence Hensley, a blacksmith. Patsy developed an interest in music at the early age, when she began singing in a local church choir alongside her mother. When she was 15 years old, her father abandoned the family, so she left high school in order to financially help her mother and her siblings. She served as a soda jerk and a waitress at the Triangle Diner in her hometown during the day, while at night she was singing in local clubs. In 1947 she approached Jimmy McCoy, a local radio station disk jockey, who gave her an opportunity to sing live on air. Her performance was well received by the audience, and she soon began performing in various talent shows across the states. In 1954, she became a regular performer in Connie B. Gay’s Town and Country Jamboree radio show alongside Jimmy Dean, these ventures providing the basis for her net worth and opening the door towards a lucrative music career.

In 1954 Patsy Cline signed her first recording contract with Four Star Records; in the beginning, her singles were rather calmly accepted by the audience, so she experimented with various genres including country, honky-tonk and rockabilly, before eventually finding herself in pop music. Patsy released 17 singles before she was tragically killed. On that fatal night she performed at a benefit concert in memory of Jack McCall, and immediately afterwards boarded an aircraft alongside the Cowboy Copas band, Hawkshaw Hawkins and her manager and pilot Randy Hughes. After getting caught in turbulence, the plane crashed about 85 miles (137 km) west from Nashville. Her songs “Sweet Dreams”, “Faded Love” and “Leavin’ on Your Mind” posthumously reached the Top 10 in the Country Music charts, and dramatically increased the number of sold album copies. In 1970, Patsy Cline was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and in 1999 she was honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Speaking of her personal life, it is known that she was married twice – between 1953 and 1957 she was married to Gerald Cline, and between 1957 and her death in 1963 to Charlie Dick, with whom she had two children.

4When she was thirteen, she was hospitalized with a throat infection and rheumatic fever. She said, "The fever affected my throat and when I recovered, I had this booming voice like Kate Smith.".
5She was introduced to music at an early age, singing in church with her mother. She admired stars such as Kay Starr, Jo Stafford, Hank Williams, Judy Garland and Shirley Temple.

10Patsy's manager and pilot, Randy Hughes, was taught to fly by the same flight instructor who taught another popular country singing star, Jim Reeves, to fly. Jim met the same fate as Patsy, Randy, Hawkshaw Hawkins and Cowboy Copas in July 1964, when his plane crashed in eerily similar circumstances during a severe thunderstorm.

12Recorded Willie Nelson's song "Crazy". According to Nelson, it was one of the few songs Patsy did not get on the first take. After a break, he realized the problem was that she was attempting to sing it the way he had originally recorded it. After he told her to "make it her own", she got it the first time. According to Nelson in an interview with Terry Gross, it is on more jukeboxes and remains the #1 song on jukeboxes ever.
13Recorded with Hank Garland in the late 1950s to early 1960s in sessions that produced the songs "I'm Moving Along", "I'm Blue Again", "Love, Love, Love Me Honey Do", "That Wonderful Someone", "(Write Me) In Care of the Blues", "Hungry for Love, I Can't Forget You", "I Don't Wanta", "Ain't No Wheels on This Ship", "Yes, I Understand", "Gotta Lot of Rhythm In My Soul", "Life's Railway to Heaven", "Just a Closer Walk with Thee", "Lovesick Blues", "How Can I Face Tomorrow", "There He Goes" and "Crazy Dreams".
