Scialfa grew up in Deal’s Jersey Shore community. She attended Asbury Park High School in New Jersey, and later enrolled at New York University, earning a degree in music. Her interest in music was developed at an early age. However, it wasn’t until the time when she finished high school that she started to sing and play in bands around the Jersey Shore music scene. While at college, she attempted to get her original material recorded, however, without success. Upon graduating, she took a job as a busker and waitress in Greenwich Village. During this time, she formed a band called Trickster, along with Soozie Tyrell and Lisa Lowell. She went on to perform at Folk City and Kenny’s Castaways in Greenwich Village, and at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park.

This enabled her to achieve some reputation in the world of music. Her net worth began to increase.

She eventually began to sing backup for rock acts on tour and in the studio, such as David Johansen, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. A recording contract with Columbia Records soon followed, however, Scialfa’s solo career was postponed as she joined the E Street Band in 1984, a few days before their “Born in the U.S.A.” tour. She started as a backup singer, but later began to play the guitar as well. By the time she became its member, the band had already established a decent reputation, but it was their 1984 album “Born in the U.S.A.” that shot them to stardom. Therefore, Scialfa joined the E Street Band during their explosion into rock stardom and, after a successful tour, she would remain with them for many other tours to come. Being a member of such a powerful and successful band enabled her to achieve a great popularity, and to amass significant wealth. It also brought her the honor to be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2012, along with her band mates, recognizing their contribution to music.

Meanwhile, Scialfa has also collaborated with other artists, including the Rolling Stones and their 1986 album “Dirty Work”, Keith Richards and his 1988 album “Talk Is Cheap”, Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers and their 1995 release “American Babylon”, and Emmylou Harris and her 1999 album “Red Dirt Girl”. All added to her net worth.

She has also released solo material, her debut album, “Rumble Doll”, coming out in 1993. Her second album was called “23rd Street Lullaby” and was released in 2004; all songs on both albums were written by Scialfa. Following the release of her second album, she embarked on her first solo national tour. Her third release, “Play It as It Lays”, came out in 2007, so Scialfa’s solo career has considerably increased her popularity and significantly improved her fortune.

When it comes to her private life, Scialfa has been married to Bruce Springsteen since 1991. They have three children together, and the family resides in Colts Neck, New Jersey.
