He passed away on the 23rd October 2016.
Have you ever wondered how rich Pete Burns was at the time of his death? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Burns’ net worth was as high as $500,000, an amount earned through his successful career in the music industry. Apart from a career as a band member, Pete released two solo singles “Jack and Jill Party” (2004), and “Never Marry an Icon” (2010), the sales of which also increased his wealth.
Pete Burns Net Worth $500,000
Pete was the son of Evelina Maria Quittner von Hudec and Francis Burns. His childhood was troublesome, as his mother had problems with alcoholism and depression, and was bothered by other children in the neighborhood because he knew German since his early days. Once in his teens, Pete started his androgynous look, which he nurtured until his last days. Because of his appearance he was called to headmaster’s office, but instead he left school and never went back. Also, he was raped by a man who picked him up while Pete was hitchhiking.
He found a job at Probe records, working behind the counter; while there, he met several musicians and was slowly getting into the music scene of Liverpool. Before he started the band Dead or Alive, he was a part of Mystery Girls, comprising of Pete Wylie and Julian Cope. After that he joined Nightmares in Wax, with which he released several singles, including “Black Leather”, and “Birth of a Nation”. The group then went through a line-up change and also a name change, assuming the name Dead or Alive. Before their debut album, they released several singles, including the “I’m Falling”, “The Stranger” and “It’s Been Hours Now”. After their initial success they signed a record deal with Epic Records, and in 1984 released their debut album entitled “Sophisticated Boom Boom”, which reached No. 29 on the UK charts, and received positive critiques. The next year Pete and the rest of the group worked on another album, “Youtquake”, which reached No. 9 on the UK Charts, and achieved gold status in both the UK and US, while in Canada achieving platinum status, which increased Pete’s net worth. The album featured band’s biggest hit, “You Spin Me Round” (Like a Record), which topped charts in UK, Canada and Switzerland.
By the end of the ’80s they had released two more albums “Mad,Bad, and Dangerous to Know” (1987), and “Nude” (1988). Since then their popularity began to decline, and Pete disbanded the group officially in 2011, but before that, they had released several more records, including “Fan the Flame (Part 1) (1990), “Nukleopatra” (1995), and “Fragile” (2000).
Pete also authored “Freak Unique: My Autobiography” in 2006, the sales of which also increased his net worth.
Regarding his personal life, Pete was married to Lynne Corlett from 1980 until 2006. The following year he married his boyfriend Michael Simpson, but they divorced the next year.
Pete was known for his androgynous look on which he had worked since his teen years, He underwent numerous plastic surgeries, some of which threatened his life, and he even sued one of his plastic surgeons because one of operations which didn’t go as planned and Pete contracted pulmonary embolisms and near-fatal blood clots. He passed away on the 23rd October 2016 after cardiac arrest.
[commenting on his long and happy marriage to a woman] I look at these marriages between big stars like Sadie Frost and Jude Law and wonder how they expect any relationship to last when they spend most of their time thousands of miles part. Lynne is a massive part of my life - she always has been and always will be. When I go abroad touring, she comes with me.

How trashy do I seem? I like deliberate Trash. I collect items like Elvis Presley clock radios and '50s memorabilia. It inspires a lot of my imagery. I like tasteful trash.

You'd never catch me dead in a pair of fishnets! For one thing, they are not practical. And for another thing, it's just like a tacky drag queen.

[when asked about the happiest day of his life] August 8th, 1980. That was the day Lynne and I got married. The only thing that spoiled it was that the man in the registry office had to go and make a feeble joke by asking which one of us was the bride.

In the death announcement, Michael Simpson, Lynn Corlett and Steve Coy, Burn's manager and a former "Dead or Alive" band member, said, "All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star. He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul and will be missed by all those who loved and appreciated everything he was and all of the wonderful memories he has left us with." Boy George also wrote about Burns' passing, saying, "Tearful about the passing of Pete Burns, he was one of our great true eccentrics and such a big part of my life! Wow. Hard to believe!".
