To begin with, Peter Noone is the son of an accountant. He attended primary school in Flixton and received secondary education in Manchester. During his high school years he landed child roles in television programs, including the role of Stanley Fairclough in the TV soapie “Coronation Street”. He studied singing and drama at the Manchester School of Music, and while still a student won the Outstanding Young Musician Award. At that time, he worked under the stage name Peter Novak.

In 1963, Noone founded the pop-rock band Herman’s Hermits, alongside Derek Leckenby, Keith Hopwood, Karl Green and Barry Whitwam, with Peter performing as a singer under the name of Herman. Their first album, “I’m into Something Good” (1963), reached the top spot on the UK Singles Chart and the main UK chart, and was the first of a long series of successes both in the UK and in the USA, as “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter” (1963) and “I’m Henry the VIII I Am” (1965) became popular in the USA. Domestically, their greatest success was with “Silhouettes” (1965) topping the UK Singles Chart. In the Netherlands the group took the top ten twice, with “No Milk Today” (1965) and “Dandy” (1966). The group also appeared in a few films released under the label of Metro Goldwyn Mayer, one entitled “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter”. The group provided a significant base to Noone’s net worth.

In 1971, Peter Noone and Keith Hopwood left the group, and Noone began a solo career and took on a series of singles; one of them “Oh! You Pretty Things” (1971) reached twelfth position on the UK Singles Chart, written by David Bowie who also took the piano part. In the early 1980s, Noone led the band entited The Tremblers, with other members Greg Inhofer, Robert Williams, George Conner and Mark Browne, which gave a series of performances and released an album “Twice Nightly”.

After the breakup of The Tremblers, Noone compiled a solo album, “One of the Boys Glory”. Later, in the 1980s and in the 1990s he played roles in musicals, plays and television pieces; he sang the role of Frederic in the comic opera “The Pirates of Penzance” by William S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. In the early 1990s, he hosted the television show “My Generation”, dedicated to the pop music of previous generations. Since 2001, Peter Noone also performs regularly with his own version of Herman’s Hermits, called Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone. He also still plays in the theatre.

Finally, in the personal life of Noone, he married the Frenchwoman Mireille Strasser in 1968, and the couple have a daughter. They now live in southern California.
