Phil Taylor Net Worth $10 Million

Phil is the son of Liz Taylor and her husband Doug. He didn’t finish high school as he quit when he was 16 years old and started looking for a job. He was first employed at a sheet metal factory, making ceramic toilet roll handles. This job would give him £52 a week, but that just wasn’t enough. He was looking for a new way to support himself, and now a family as in the meantime he married Yvonne. In 1986 they moved into a terraced house in Burslem, located near the pub Crafty Cockney, owned by a professional darts player Eric Bristow. He started playing darts on an amateur level at the bar and his wife bought him a set of darts as a birthday gift. Phil improved his skill rapidly, and with the help of Eric himself, lending him the money needed to begin competing, and with occasional advice.

His first professional season was a disaster, and he waited until the next year to win a title; his victory came against Bob Anderson, who at the time held the World Champion title, at the Canadian Open. Two years later he qualified for his first World Championship and was an unseeded outsider with odds 125-1, but he beat all his opponents and the odds as well, to claim his first title. The same year, he won the World Masters, and in 1992 he was again the best player in the World Championship.

In 1993 happened a split in the Darts organization; Phil and 15 other top darts players, including Dennis Priestley, Rod Harrington, John Lowe, Jocky Wilson, Peter Evison and Kevin Spiolek among others, formed their own league, called World Darts Council. In the beginning, the governing body of the Darts sport in the UK – the British Darts Organisation (BDO) – was against the newly formed league and organization, prohibiting the 16 players from participating in all events organized by the BDO. The disagreements between two organizations came to pass in 199,7 with the installation of Tomlin Order. The WDC had to change the name to Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).

Phil has continued quite successfully with his career from the mid- ‘90s until the present day, winning 14 World Championships organized by PDC, consecutively from 1995 until 2002, and then in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2013. He has 16 wins at the World Matchday, winning every event from 1995 until 2017, with the exceptions in 1996, 2005 and 2007. He has a number of Tournaments victories to his name, some of which include the Antwerp Open, Finnish Open, Denmark Open, German Darts Championship, Isle of Men Open, Jocky Wilson Cup, Melbourne Darts Masters among others, which have increased his wealth to a large degree. Phil has had success on European tours, winning the German Darts Championship in 2012, Gibraltar Darts Trophy in 2013, German Darts Masters in 2014, and Austrian Darts Open in 2016, further increasing his wealth. His net worth has also benefited from his wins at the Players Championships, having won more than 30 titles in the Championships. Phil is currently fourth on the list of the best darts players in the world, behind Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, and Peter Wright.

He holds several records, including 11 televised nine-dart finishes, then highest dart average with 118.66 in a match against Kevin Painter at the 2010 UK Open, and his 14 consecutive finals from 1994 until 2007 in World Championships is also a record.

Thanks to his successful career, Phil has received numerous awards and recognitions, including PDC Player of the Year six times, firstly in 2006, and then consecutively from 2008 to 2012, Best PDC Pro Tour Player/Floor Player in 2008 and 2009, and in 2011 he was inducted into the PDC Hall of Fame. Furthermore, in 2001, Phil was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) on the New Year honors list.

Having acquired massive popularity in the UK as a darts player, Phil managed to expand his presence into the media, and as a result has guest-appeared in a number of variety shows, including “Bullseye” (1990-1994), “The Gadget Show” (2010), and “Sports Life Stories” (2013), among other appearances.

Regarding his personal life, Phil was married to Yvonne from the early ‘80s until 2011; the couple had four children together before the divorce. Phil is an avid soccer fan and is a supporter of the Port Vale club, from his hometown, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.
