Phillip Akon Lewis was born on 4 September 1968, in Uganda, East Africa. He is an actor, comedian, and director best known for playing the character Mr. Moseby in series such as “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” and “The Suite Life on Deck”. He’s also appeared in shows such as “Lizzie McGuire”, “Friends”, and “Yes, Dear”. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Phill Lewis? As of mid-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $1.5 million, mostly earned through a successful career on television. He’s also had several minor roles in films and has tried his hand at being a television director. He’s had a tenure that dates back to the 1980s, and as he continues his career his wealth will likely increase.
Phill Lewis Net Worth $1.5 Million Dollars
Phill is the son of former US Ambassador Delano Lewis who was assigned to Uganda and Nigeria as the Peace Corps’ country director. Though he had made a few appearances in the late 1980s, Phill started to gain recognition after appearing in the short lived series entitled “Teech”. This led to him making guest appearances in more popular shows including “Ally McBeal”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, Friends”, and “How I Met Your Mother”. He was also given recurring roles in series such as “Scrubs”, and “Raising Hope”.
His most notable role came in the Disney Channel series “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” in which he played Mr. Moseby. The success of the series led to him becoming a part of the spin-off series entitled “The Suite Life on Deck”, in which he became the captain of the ship the S.S. Tipton. His association with Disney helped him become part of the channel’s other shows such as “That’s So Raven” and “Phineas and Ferb”. His net worth rose steadily.
Eventually, Lewis tried his hand at becoming a television director, getting the chance to direct some episodes of ‘The Suite Life on Deck”. His first opportunity at directing came in an episode of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” entitled “I Want My Mummy”. He has since become a director for Disney’s other series including “Austin & Ally”, and “Kickin’ It”. He was also given the chance to direct episodes of series such as “2 Broke Girls”, “The Odd Couple”, and “Undateable”.
Lewis’ first film was “Heathers” which was a dark comedy released in 1989. He has also had several smaller roles in films such as “I Spy”, “Surviving Christmas’, and “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2”. He’s also reprised his role of Mr. Moseby for other television series as well including “Jessie.”
For his personal life, it is known that he is married to Megan Benton Lewis and they have two children. In 1991, Phill got involved in a car accident that killed Isabel Duarte, and he was charged with drunk driving. Two years later he was convicted of manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, and sentenced to five years but only served one as he toured with a prison-based theatre group who helped spread the consequences of drug abuse. He was then ordered to serve 350 hours of community service and two years of probation.
