Rachel Stevens Wiki Biography
Born Rachel Lauren Steven on the 9th April 1978 in Southgate, London England, she is a musician, singer, songwriter, businesswoman and model, probably best known to the world for being a part of the pop group S Club 7 from 1999 until 2003. She has also launched a solo career, releasing two studio albums so far.
Have you ever wondered how rich Rachel Stevens is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Stevens’ net worth is as high as $1.4 million, an amount earned through her successful multi-faceted career, active since the mid-‘90s.
Rachel Stevens Net Worth $1.4 Million
Of Jewish ancestry, Rachel grew up in her hometown with her siblings, Leigh and Jason, where she went to Osidge JMI School and later attended Ashmole School in London.
As early as 1993, Rachel made her first steps towards a career in the modeling world; she was the winner of a modeling contest funded by the magazine Just 17. Among 5000 contestants, Rachel was named the winner, which followed by a number of other modeling gigs. Inspired by her success and modeling on the whole, she enrolled at the London College of Fashion, receiving a diploma in business. However, she soon changed tack and started pursuing a career as a singer.
In 1998 she joined the pop group S Club 7, with Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Hannah Spearritt, Jon Lee, Jo O’Meara, and Bradley McIntosh. Originating in the mind of former Spice Girls manager, Simon Fuller, the group got its own the show on BBC, entitled “Miami 7”. The group existed for five years, during which time they released four studio albums, firstly “S Club” (1999), which reached No. 2 on the UK charts and achieved double platinum status in the UK and Canada, while their single “Bring It All Back”, topped the UK chart and was also certified platinum, increasing Rachel’s net worth. The group’s second album “7”, topped the UK chart and achieved four times platinum status in the UK, adding a considerable amount to Rachel’s net worth. Their popularity began to decline after the release of their third album, “Sunshine” in 2001, which resulted in disbandment that year, but not before releasing their fourth and final album “Seeing Double”, which peaked at No. 17 on the UK chart, but still achieved gold status.
Rachel wanted to remain in the music business, and was offered a four-album deal by Polydor Records worth £1.5 million. Her debut album entitled “Funky Dory” came out in October 2003, reaching No. 9 on the UK chart and being certified gold, with the first single being “Sweet Dreams My LA Ex”, which reached No. 2 on the UK chart and achieved silver status, both contributing to her net worth, with Rachel receiving positive reviews from the critics. She continued to make music and in 2005 released her second album “Come and Get It”, but to no great success.
Rachel then became more involved in television, having already experienced TV series with S Club 7 having their own show “S Club 7 in Miami” (1999-2000), followed by “S Club 7 in L.A.” in 2000, and “Hollywood7” (2001), which also added to her net worth. She now worked on such shows as “Strictly Come Dancing” and “The Voice of Ireland” among others. Since then, she had a minor part in the film “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo” in 2005, and lent her voice to Patricia Ravelston in the animated film “Glendogie Bogey in 2008.
This decade has been a mixture of music and TV for Rachel, eventually producing the album “Tasty Tunes”, actually aimed at encouraging kids to eat healthily! S Club 7 reunited for a tour entitled Bring It All Back 2015, and then she appeared in “Celebrity Mastermind” on BBC TV, all adding steadily to her net worth. Additionally, Stevens’ wealth also benefited from her work on campaigns for Sky Sports, Pretty Polly and Marks & Spencer.
When it comes to her personal life, Rachel has been married to Alex Bourne since 2009; the couple has two children together. Before marrying, Rachel was romantically linked to a number of successful businessmen, including property developer Daniel Cohen, with whom she was in a relationship for two years while a member of S Club 7. She then started dating actor Jeremy Edwards, to whom she became engaged in 2002, but in 2004 the couple broke up. Rachel then started a relationship with David Dein and was also linked to actor Stephen Dorff and opera singer Oliver Trevena.
Rachel has done her share of philanthropy; she has supported a number of campaigns and organizations, including Everyman Testicular Cancer Awareness campaign, then Make Poverty History campaign, and serves as an ambassador to WaterAid.
