He is best known as a Republican Senator and the son of Ron Paul, a former Texas congressman. He has made several headlines, especially for his opinions on the controversial Civil Rights Act as well as his support for the Tea Party Movement.

He joined Baylor University before moving to the medical school.at Duke University. He then pursued an internship in general surgery at George Baptist Medical Center located in Atlanta, Georgia.

In 1995, Rand Paul founded a non-profit facility that offered free eye care, which included free eye surgeries for poor children in developing countries. By this time, he had founded a watchdog group known as Kentucky Taxpayers United, which tracked spending issues and taxation in the state legislature of Kentucky, until 2000 when it was disbanded. In 2008, he became more popular not only in his home city, but also the entire US when he campaigned for his father in the presidential nominations for the Republican Party. He also took the opportunity to air his objections to the policy of President Barack Obama for striking terrorist using unarmed drones. In February 2014, he went to the courts, filing a lawsuit against government officials including the President himself over NSA’s collection of metadata from phones.
