Little is one of three sons born to Lawrence Preston Little, who was a doctor and his wife, Elizabeth. While still in high school, Rich started doing impersonations, and with Goeff Scott formed comedy duo, and began performing in Canada`s night clubs, initially focusing on impersonating Canadian politicians, Prime Minister John Diefenbaker and Ottawa mayor Charlotte Whitton.
In the 1950s, he became a part of the Elgin Movie Theatre in Ottawa, working on improving his impersonating skills, trying new voices.
