To talk about his early life, Perry grew up in Haskell County, Texas. His father was a politician of the Democratic Party, serving as a commissioner of Haskell County. Perry`s first interest in politics appeared when he was just 12 years old, while attending the commemoration for the late USA Representative Sam Rayburn.
Regarding his education, Rick obtained his high school diploma from the Paint Creek High School, following which he enrolled at Texas A&M University, and graduated in 1972 with a Bachelors degree in animal science.
Before his career as a politician began, he had several jobs, including as a book salesman. However, rom college he entered the USA military, eventually becoming a US Air Force captain before leaving the military in 1977.
His political career began in 1984, when he was elected to be a member of the Texas House of Representatives as a Democrat.
