Rick is the son of Cuban immigrants who brought him to the US when he was two years old. Settling in Hialeah, Florida, Rick grew up not knowing a word of English, but as he entered the school system he started taking English lessons. He went to Hialeah High School, from which he matriculated in 1977, then enrolled at Minnesota State University – Moorhead, after receiving a football scholarship. However, after two years and acquiring a Journalism Scholarship given by CBS/WCCO, he transferred to the University’s Minneapolis campus.

He started working for WCCO while at the University, at their satellite sister station KCMT, and then in 1982 joined WSVN in Miami, plus spending a brief time in Houston working for KHOU, before returning to WSVN. He remained at the station until 2001, when he was hired by MSNBC working for the next two years before returning to Miami, joining WTVJ and WBZL stations until 2004, when he joined CNN. His net worth was already well set.

He started as an anchor of the show “Out in the Open”, and reported for CNN around the globe, while also serving as correspondent for the “Anderson Cooper 360°” show, before in January 2010 being given his own show – “Rick’s List” – which aired until his firing in October the same year. He was interviewed by Pete Dominick on Sirius XM radio, and Rick said that Jon Stewart was a bigot and that everyone at CNN was similar to Stewart.

Following his dismissal from CNN, Rick made public apologies, and continued with his career by joining FOX News in 2012, and has worked for the station as a contributor, while also showcasing his skills as a writer om Fox News Latino, and as a news contributor for MundoFox, which has also added to his net worth.

To speak further of Rick’s accomplishments, he was a part of the WIOD 610 AM radio from 2013 until 2015, but he was fired due to low ratings while he was serving as an anchor.

When it comes to his personal life, Rick is married to Suzanne, with whom he has four children.

Back in 1990, Rick was in a DUI accident in which a man jumped into the path of Rick’s car was left paralyzed. Following the accident, police took blood tests, which showed that alcohol rating was double the legal limit in victim’s blood, while Rick had one and a half times the legal limit in his blood. Eventually, he was charged with driving under the influence and entered a plea of no contest.
