Richard John “Ricky” Hatton was born on the 6th October 1978, in Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, and is a former professional boxer, who competed in the light welterweight and welterweight divisions, and was IBO, IBF, WBA, The Ring Light Welterweight Champion, and WBA Welterweight Champion. His professional boxing career was active from 1997 to 2012. He currently works as a boxing promoter.

Ricky Hatton spent his childhood on the Hattersley council estate in Hyde, Greater Manchester, raised by his parents Carol and Ray Hatton. He studied at Hattersley High School, and while he was a teenager, Ricky started training in a local club.
Before Ricky became professional boxer, he competed at amateur level, winning several titles, and fought for Britain at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in 1996. He was eliminated in the semi-finals, however, the judge later revealed that he accepted a bribe.
Ricky turned professional in 1997, and fought until 2009, when he made a hiatus from boxing for two years, returning in 2011, but losing his first match, and deciding to retire after the loss. Ricky made his professional debut against boxer Colin McAuley, winning by RTD. In 1999 he won his first title, defeating Tommy Peacock for the British Central Area light-welterweight title, which only added to his net worth. The same year, he also won the WBO Inter-Continental light-welterweight title, as he defeated Dillon Carew, which added further to his net worth.
During the 2000s, his career reached a whole new level, as he won the vacant WBU light-welterweight title by defeating Tony Pep in 2001, and a year blater he became champion in the British light-welterweight category, as he defeated Jon Thaxton. In 2005 he won the IBF, The Ring and lineal light-welterweight titles, fighting against Kostya Tszyu, whom he defeated by RTD. To speak further of his accomplishments, Ricky won the WBA (Super) light-welterweight title in 2005, by defeating Carlos Maussa, and the following year he won the WBA welterweight title by defeating Louis Collazo.
Before he retired, Ricky also won the IBF and vacant IBO light-welterweight titles in 2007, when he defeated Juan Urango, and the same year he became the champion of the WBC International light-welterweight category, defeating Jose Louis Castillo, increasing further his net worth.
In 2007 came his first defeat, losing his WBC, The Ring and lineal welterweight titles to Floyd Mayweather Jr,. Before he left the ring as a boxer for good, he lost two more fights, against Manny Pacquiao and Vyacheslav Senchenko, in 2009 and 2012.
After he retired, Ricky started his own boxing promotional company, entitled Hatton Promotions, and currently promotes such boxers as Matty Askin, Ryan Burnett, Lucas Browne, and Damien Hooper, among others, which has also added to his net worth.
