Born in Burbank, California, Borchetta is the son of Shari and Mark Borchetta. Early on, Borchetta was exposed to music due to his father’s influence from working in the music industry. While studying, he also played in several local rock bands, learned various musical instruments and listened to different music genres.

When Borchetta’s parents separated at the age of 16, he followed his father to Nashville when he started his own record promotion company, to pursue a career in music. Unfortunately Borchetta failed to make it big in the music industry, and decided to work for his father’s company starting in the mail room.

From his father’s mail room, Borchetta decided to pursue a career working for record label companies. From 1985 he worked for the company MTM records for three years, and continued to work for various recording companies. He also worked as an independent promoter for some time and also for major record labels like DreamWorks Nashville, MCA Nashville Records and Universal Music Nashville, specializing in record promotions and artist development.

Although Borchetta’s net worth was doing well working for Universal Music Nashville, he was not a fan of how the companies he was working for ran their businesses, and decided he wanted to run his own. In 2005, he left Universal Music Nashville, and founded his own record label Big Machine Records.

While preparing to start Big Machine Records, in 2005 Borchetta met young artist Taylor Swift playing in a small café in Nashville. Impressed with Swift’s performance, Borchetta signed her to Big Machine Records, and the rest is history. Swift became a country and pop music superstar bringing huge success to the recording company, and tremendously helping Borchetta’s net worth to rise.

With the success of Swift, Borchetta was then able to sign more well-known artists to his record label; some of them include Reba McEntire, Jewel, Rascal Flatts, Jack Ingram, Steel Magnolia, Martina McBride and The Band Perry to name a few. The success of such artists has continued to amplify Borchetta’s success and wealth.

Borchetta is also credited for signing artists who are products of reality singing competition shows, like Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery of “The Voice”, and Craig Wayne Boyd of “X Factor”.

Today, Borchetta still sits as Big Machine Record’s President and CEO. Recently, he joined FOX’s singing competitions series “American Idol” as its own in-house mentor in 2015.

In terms of his personal life, Borchetta is married to Sandi who is currently working as the SVP Creative of Big Machine Records. He also has a passion for racing cars as a hobby, but is also described as competitive.
