Sharyl Attkisson is an American author and formerly an investigative correspondent in the Washington bureau for CBS News. She had also substituted as anchor for the CBS Evening News. She resigned from CBS News on March 10, 2014 after 21 years with the network.
Graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in broadcast journalism in 1982. The University of Florida gave her an Outstanding Achievement Award in 1997. She served on the University's Journalism College Advisory Board (1993-1997) and was chairman in 1996. Returned to the University as a key-note speaker at the College of Journalism and Communications in 2010.

Daughter and sister of physicians. Her father is a retired orthopedic surgeon. Her brother is a physician who is trained in emergency medicine, family medicine and the specialty of anesthesia.
