Born in Houston, Texas, Bartusiak was the daughter of Raymond Donald Bartusiak and Helen McCole. She started her career at a very young age, while still attending St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal School. Bartusiak’s acting career began when she was six years old when she appeared in the television series “Storm of the Century” in 1999. It was then followed with an appearance in the series “JAG” and “Judging Amy”. In that same year, she also appeared in her first movie “The Cider House Rules”. Her early years in acting helped establish her career and her net worth.

In 2000, Bartusiak starred alongside Mel Gibson in the movie “The Patriot”; her performance as a traumatized young kid earned her a nomination for a Young Artist award for Best Ensemble in a feature film. Other films that she starred in included “Riding in Cars with Boys” and “Don’t Say a Word”.
