Stephen Stills Net Worth $20 Million
Stephen Stills moved a lot when he was a child, but developing an interest in blues and folk, and later for Latino music as well. He graduated from a high school in El Salvador, and then went to the Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Saint Leo College Preparatory School in Saint Leo, Florida. Stills never finished college as he dropped out of the University of Florida to start a musical career in the early 60’s.
Stills joined a nine-member vocal group “Au Go Go Singers” in 1962, which wasn’t very successful; they released only one album in 1964 before breaking-up in 1965. With four members, including Richie Furay, Stills then formed a folk-rock group called “The Company”, but that band also broke up after only four months.
Stills then met the guitarist Neil Young while on a tour in Canada, and persuaded his friend Furay to move with him to Los Angeles in 1966. With Young and Furay, Stills founded the band called “Buffalo Springfield” in 1966, and they released three albums: “Buffalo Springfield,” “Buffalo Springfield Again”, and “Last Time Around”. They had one hit single “For What It’s Worth”, but disbanded soon after. In 1967, Stills was introduced to Graham Nash at a party, and they formed a band named Crosby, Stills & Nash; Stills had already worked with David Crosby at the beginning of 1967. They were rather successful, performing at all three major rock festivals in America, beingWoodstock, Monterey, and Altamont, and they’re still playing today, occasionally with Neil Young.
Stephen Stills started his solo career in 1970, and his debut album “Stephen Stills” was an instant hit, reaching #3 on the Billboard chart, and being certified gold. A lot of notable musicians featured on the album, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Ringo Starr, and the hit single was “Love The One You’re With”. The next year he released another gold-certified album “Stephen Stills 2”, and played guitar on Bill Withers’ album “Just as I Am”. At the end of 1971, Stills and Chris Hillman formed the band named “Manassas”. His next four solo albums “Stills” (1975), “Illegal Stills” (1976), “Thoroughfare Gap” (1978), and “Right By You” (1984) reached the top 100 on Billboard chart. Stills’ most recent albums were “Just Roll Tape” in 2007. Together with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Barry Goldberg, Stills formed the band “The Rides” and has released two albums: “Can’t Get Enough” in 2013, and “Pierced Arrow” in 2016.
Regarding his personal life, Stephen Stills met his first wife singer-songwriter Véronique Sanson (1973-79) while on tour in France. He later married model Pamela Ann Jordan (1988-94) and had a daughter Eleanor with her. Still’s third wife is Kristen Hathaway; they married in 1996. Stephen Stills also has three sons Justin, Henry, and Oliver, and another daughter Alex.
