In the next decade, Takeru continued to line up success after success, as he broke the world record at the 2012 GroupMe Grill by eating 13 grilled cheese sandwiches in one minute. In the same year, he also set the Wing Bowl record, the New York State Fair record, and he signed a contract with the Major League Eating (MLE), which added a considerable amount to his net worth, as he competed at the Nathan’s Fourth of July hot dog eating tournament. Furthermore, in 2013, Takeru became the winner of Canada’s biggest pizza eating contest – “LET ‘EM EAT”, and in the following year, he set the record at the same tournament by eating 62 slices of pizza in only 12 minutes.
