Taran Hourie Killam grew up in Big Bear Lake, California and went to the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts before studying at the University of California, Los Angeles, but he dropped out after one year, in 2000. Killam got his film debut in Peter Segal’s comedy “Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult” (1994) starring Leslie Nielsen. He later appeared in 15 episodes of the live-action, comedy sketch-variety show called “All That” (1994-2002).

Killam waited several years before getting an opportunity to appear in series such as “Undressed” (1999), “The Jersey” (2000), “Judging Amy” (2000), “Touched by an Angel” (2000), and “Roswell” (2001), and then played in 13 episodes of “MADtv” (2001-2002). Later, Killam had roles in “Big Fat Liar” (2002) starring Frankie Muniz, Amanda Bynes, and Paul Giamatti, “Just Married” (2002) with Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy, and Savage Steve Holland’s “Stuck in the Suburbs” (2004). Taran also appeared in six episodes of “How I Met Your Mother” from 2006 to 2014. All added to his net worth.

In 2007, Taran played various characters in “Nick Cannon Presents: Short Circuitz” before being cast in “My Best Friend’s Girl” (2008) starring Kate Hudson, Dane Cook, and Jason Biggs, and in five episodes of “Scrubs” (2009). The last few years have been busy for Killam too, and he had a lot of work in movies such as “The Heat” (2013), “Grown Ups 2” (2013), “12 Years a Slave” (2013), “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2014), and “Ted 2” (2015), so his net worth has steadily increased.

He joined the cult “Saturday Night Live” in 2010, and is still on board after 128 episodes. Taran landed the voice to the character called Frantic in “The Awesomes” (2013-2015), and to Nature Cat in the animated series of the same name. Most recently, Killam starred in Zackary Adler’s comedy “Casual Encounters” (2016) with Brooklyn Decker and David Krumholtz, and he is in “The Runaround” (2016), now in post-production, and “Brother Nature” (2016) which is completed and it should be launched by the end of the year. He is currently directing and acting in “Why We’re Killing Gunther” with Cobie Smulders and Arnold Schwarzenegger; Killam also wrote the script for the movie that should come out in 2017.

Regarding his personal life, Taran Killam dated the Canadian actress Cobie Smulders for several years before the pair became engaged in 2009, and married in 2012. They have two daughters together, and the family currently resides in New York.

#Quote
1[re his audition with Lorne Michaels for 'SNL'] I said: 'I don't want to be so presumptuous to say I'll come on your show and I'll kill. But I definitely think if you hired me, I'd do a very good job'. He said: 'No, no, no, no. Confidence isn't your problem.' And he just left it at that.
