Rhett is the son of country singer Rhett Atkins, and Paige Braswell. Because of his father’s career as a singer, he grew up among other notable country singers, including Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, and Brooks & Dunn, which unsurprisingly influenced him to have a liking for country music. He started playing drums during his middle school years, and joined the band called The High Heeled Flip Flops when he was in high school.

Rhett then went to Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, but had no idea what to study, beginning with communications, but shifting from one course to another. At the age of 20, he decided to focus on his career in music, and dropped out of college, and soon after while playing at a club, an executive from the Big Machine Label Group heard him and offered him a deal to write songs for the label, so in 2010, Rhett accepted Big Machine’s the offer. He began by co-writing “I Ain’t Ready to Quit” and “1994” for Jason Aldean, “Parking Lot Party” for Lee Brice, and “Round Here” for Florida Georgia Line. His early years in the music industry helped establish him as a musician, and laid the basis of his net worth.

After these productions, in 2012, Rhett was able to release his own single “Something to Do with My Hands”, and followed with “Beer with Jesus”, both of which became chart-toppers, and eventually led to the release of his first album – “It Goes Like This” – in October 2013. Aside from the first two singles, Rhett’s first album also contained subsequent singles including “Make Me Wanna” and “Get Me Some of That”. The success of his first album helped catapult his career to new heights, and also tremendously increased his wealth.

After two years, Rhett released another album, entitled “Tangled Up” in 2015, which became a chart-topper as well, and contained songs including “Die a Happy Man”, “T-Shirt”, “Vacation”, and “Star of the Show.” The second album’s success also helped to increase his net worth.

Today, Rhett is still active in the music industry, recently releasing a new album entitled “Life Changes” which has proven to be a huge success, becoming Rhett’s first album to hit number one on the Billboard 200.

In terms of his personal life, Rhett is married to childhood sweetheart Lauren Akins, and together they have two children – their adoptive daughter Willa Gray Akins, and their second daughter Ada James Akins.
