As a child, Carrere was really interested in music and singing. She attended Sacred Heart Academy which was an all-girls school, and later made her first appearance in the “Star Search” competition when she was 17 years old. She was eliminated during the first round, but she had been noticed and was cast in her first film “Aloha Summer”. Afterwards, Tia would move to Los Angeles and do modelling work while looking for acting jobs. Her first series was in the 1985 show “Airwolf” but she truly gained recognition when she joined “General Hospital” as Jade Soong Chung, also concurrently making appearances in “The A-Team” and “Tour of Duty”. Her net worth was rising steadily.

After these series, she made appearances in “McGyver”, “Anything But Love” and “Married…with Children”. She continued to work in film and television, appearing in action films such as “Showdown in Little Tokyo”, but would gain high public recognition in the film “Wayne’s World” as Wayne’s love interest, and she reprised the role in “Wayne’s World 2”. She continued to appear in well-known films including “True Lies”, “Rising Sun” and “The Immortals”. Along with these, Tia continued doing modelling work and commercials.

In 1999, Tia was cast in the series “Relic Hunter”, which lasted for three seasons. In 2002, she became part of “Lilo and Stitch”, and continued to work for the franchise in subsequent films, spin-offs and television series. In more recent years she has appeared in “Dancing with the Stars”, “The Celebrity Apprentice”, and even did a shoot for Playboy magazine. She has also appeared in popular series such as “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Nip/Tuck”.

Aside from film, television and modelling, Carrere established a very successful music career. Her first album was entitled “Dream” and it went platinum in the Philippines. She continued to record songs for various films, and released a second album “Hawaiiana” which was nominated for a Grammy Award. By 2009, she released her third album “’Ikena” which won her a Grammy. Her following album “Huana Ke Aloha” also won a Grammy in 2011.

For her personal life, Tia has married twice – Carrere’s first marriage was to Elie Samaha in 1992, but they divorced in 2000 following rumors of infidelity. 1The reporter claimed he was going to write the article from my point of view. Instead, he made me sound like a little idiot. It made me never want to do another interview again.
If there's a Disney animated feature based in Hawaii, I knew I had to be part of it. I'm very proud to be from Hawaii. There was no question the role was mine.
As an actress, you're already disregarded for a lot of the parts by the people who are setting up those shows. You don't need your agent to be doing the same.
I'm of Filipino, Spanish, and Chinese descent, and was raised on Hawaii.
When I first met my agent, I said, If something comes up and it fits my age range and personality, I would like you to send me up for it, even if it specifies blonde or brunette.
Did you know hemp is a natural fiber?
Having the Stitch character, the villain that becomes a hero, coming from outer space, it took a very difficult and complex story and put it into a simpler, kinder time.
That's always at the heart and soul of Disney's features, the feeling of a family values.
Doors open because you're beautiful, but I wouldn't cultivate beauty to the exclusion of brains.
I like theme parks. The fastest roller coaster I've ever been on is at a casino in Nevada.
Beauty lasts five minutes. Maybe longer if you have a good plastic surgeon.
I'm concentrating on the positive, on all the wonderful things I'm doing now.
I had been gullible, naive, soft, pliable. That's why I got taken advantage of. To survive, you have to have a tough skin.
I can't stand when people say, 'Don't hate me because I'm beautiful'. OK, how about I hate you because you said that.
I act and perform in hopes of getting attention and admiration.
Jason Lee is the most famous actor from Hawaii I can think of.
I can't sit on grass without a blanket.
People want me to do the strangest things. They want me to sign their arms or chests.
This is a Disney animated feature; it's eternal, it's history. What's there to think about?
I'm not really this rock'n'roll chick.
I play a female Indiana Jones, a professor who hunts down precious objects, like a bowl that belonged to the Buddha. They tailored the role to me: I wanted to be smart, funny, and to kick some ass.
The kids all knew me from Wayne's World. The grown-ups knew me after True Lies.
When I first came here, Hollywood was very closed-minded.
I slipped at a bus stop; I went one way and my hair went the other. That was the end of my wig.
I wanted to be a part of the Disney history.
I was very young. I thought I knew a lot and I really didn't. I trusted the wrong people.
I love to sing, so I just figured that I was going to sing or something.
I kind of fell into acting, but I have sung and trained since I was in the eighth grade.
