Tommy Thayer Net Worth $10 Million
Tommy was raised in the suburb of Beaverton, Oregon, with his four siblings. His mother was a violinist and singer, while his father was in business, and a former Brigadier General in the US Army. Influenced by music which ranged from classical tunes to The Beatles, Tommy developed his own musical taste in the early and mid-1970s. He first took a guitar in his hands when he was 13 years old, and since then, hasn`t let go. He attended the Sunset High School, from which he matriculated in 1978, and while there he was already a part of numerous garage rock bands, and after which with Jamie St. James formed the band which would later change its name to Black `n’ Blue.
From 1981 until 1983 they played in local bars in Portland, before deciding to move to Southern California, and achieving tremendous success, attracting managers of top Hollywood rock clubs, and in no time signing a record deal with Geffen Records. Their first album came out in 1984, produced by Scorpions producer Dieter Dierks, and for his services, the band was obliged to travel to Germany. The album spawned the single hit “Hold On To 18”, which only increased the sales of the album. The following year, their second album came out, entitled “Without Love”, however, it was less successful than its predecessor. The next year, Gene Simmons became the band`s producer, and under his guidance the band released two more albums, “Nasty Nasty” (1986), and “In Heat” (1988), before they broke up. Although he is not a band member, Tommy still performs with the band occasionally, mostly on Reunion tours. His net worth was well established through this period.
Tommy than stayed in touch with Gene Simmons, and co-wrote several songs for the album “Hot In The Saddle” (1989), but before he joined Kiss full-time, he was the guitarist for singer Teresa Starley and Doro Pesch.
In 1994 he started working part-time for the band Kiss; he managed the 1995 Worldwide Kiss Convention Tour, and also helped original drummer Peter Criss, and guitarist Ace Frehley to again play the old songs. His role in the band grew with each year, and in 2002 he became a full time member, assuming the role of the guitarist, The Spaceman. He toured with Kiss from 2002, and the band released two studio albums too, “Sonic Boom” (2009), and “Monster” (2012), which sales certainly increased Tommy`s net worth.
Tommy was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, both as part of Kiss, and his first band Black `n Blue”.
Regarding his personal life, Tommy has been married to Amber Peek since 2006, however, there are no details whether the couple has any children or not.
Tommy has also been recognized as a philanthropist; starting in 2006, he has been serving on a Board of Trustees at Pacific University. Also in 2006, he organized donations of new musical instruments to school band programs in Oregon. Furthermore his royalties earned through the sales of Hughes & Kettner amplifiers are sent to the Children`s Hospital in Los Angeles.
Most recently he organized a charity show – “All-Star Salute to the Oregon Military” – which raised around $1.2 million.
Was a road crew member for Kiss during the reunited lineup's tours during the late 1990s-early 2000s. Began playing lead guitar for Kiss after Ace Frehley decided not to return to the fold in 2003. Wears Ace Frehley's makeup and costume.
