From an early age Traci began attending dance lessons; once she could easily walk and run, she was enrolled at the Inner City Children’s Touring Dance Company, where her mentor was Florene Lithcutt Nichols. Once she reached her teen years, she enrolled at South Miami Middle School, where she continued with dance lessons, focusing more on technique rather than choreographies.
After two years of training, she became a student at Miami Northwestern Senior High School’s Performing and Visual Arts Center, receiving lessons from Roderick Davis. She finished her studies in 1997 with honors and in the top 10% of her class. During her stay, she won several awards as a dancer, including the Best All-Around Dancer, given to her in her sophomore year, although the award is traditionally given to a senior. She graduated from FSU in 2001 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. Immediately she started seeking employment in the public schools of the Miami Dade County, and got her first job at Madison Middle School. She was immediately noticed, and received Rookie Teacher of the Year recognition and also Rookie Teacher of the Year for Region III, while she was also Rookie Teacher of the Year runner-up for the entire Miami Dade County Public Schools. Thanks to her early success she was hired by the Miami Northwestern Senior High School in 2006, and since then has remained at the school, receiving several other recognitions, including the Teacher of the Year at the School in 2010. She is also the artistic director and founder of the Young Contemporary Dance Theatre, and is also a dance instructor at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s AileyCamp Miami. Most recently she has set-up a dance competition team Young Contemporary Dance Theater SupaStarz.
Aside from providing dance lessons, Traci was also a part of the Miami Heat Dancers from 2002 until 2011, during which time she became a team captain and assistant choreographer. Furthermore, Traci was a part of the dance competition team Fly Khicks, featured in the MTV show “America’s Best Dance Crew” (2008), which only increased her wealth.
