To begin with, Frank was raised in Willits, California. His father, a pilot during the Cold War, decided to build a house in Willits so that his children could grow safely. Here Frank met his friend and neighbour, Larry Livermore, who gave him the nickname Tré Cool after hearing the French saying which means ‘very cool’. Tré Cool joined his first band called The Lookouts at the age of 12, with the above mentioned band he played in various clubs in California.
Just before the release of their second album entitled “Kerplunk” (1992) Tre Cool became the drummer of the band Green Day, replacing the former drummer Al Sobrante (John Kiffmeyer real name). With the band he recorded 10 studio albums, all of which appeared in the Billboard Top 100 as well as in the charts of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and many European countries. All of the albums received certifications for sales, probably the best albums, which were certified multi platinum and topped the music charts in almost all countries worldwide, were “American Idiot” (2004) and “21st Century Breakdown” (2009). The Green Day has sold more than 65 million albums which has increased the net worth of every member of the band including Tre Cool.
