Vijay Mallya was born in 1955, in West Bengal, India. He attended La Martiniere Calcutta high school, and later enrolled in St. Xavier’s College, from which he graduated with a BCom degree. Upon his graduation, he worked as an intern in the life-sciences company “Hoechst AG”, located in the United States. When his father, the famous entrepreneur Vittal Mallya, passed away, Vijay tookover ownership of the “United Breweries Group” company, and became its chairman. With Vijay Mallya’s help, the company grew to become one of the most famous and largest companies in India.
