Finally, in the personal life of the actress, she was married twice, from 1930 to 1934 to Blair Gordon Newell, then in 1934 to Arthur Sheekman – they had a daughter, and lived together until his death in 1978. She subsequently lived with Ward Ritchie from 1983 until his death from cancer in 1996.
