Raised by a single mother, Jacob spent his childhood in his hometown with his younger sister Sierra. He fell in love with music in his early childhood while attending a bluegrass music festival, and since then, Jacob has devoted more time to music, and started playing the guitar and improving his singing. This resulted in him performing at various shows in his teenage years, and also to setting up a YouTube channel, on which he would upload covers of popular songs.
Encouraged by positive reviews from fans around the globe, Jacob auditioned for the second season of the talent show “The X Factor”. He did pass the initial round, but was eliminated before reaching the Top 16 round.
Nevertheless, that didn’t discourage him as he recorded and released his debut EP “3 AM” in 2014, which features songs from such artists as John Legend, Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Plain White T’s and others. The album peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard 200 chart, while it reached No. 2 on the Independent Albums chart. He continued on with his music career, and in early 2015 released his second EP, this time with his original song “A Piece of Me”. The release became rather successful, which resulted in Jacob signing a contract with BMG, and starting his own record label Double U, under BMG. Before 2015 ended, Jacob released another EP – “Faces on Film” – which reached No. 26 on the Independent Album chart and sold 4,000 copies, which helped increase his net worth.
He was gradually becoming more popular and in addition to performing in concerts, Jacob also made appearances on television, primarily in “Good Morning America”, which also contributed to his net worth.
In May 2016, Jacob embarked on a tour across North America, and also had some European dates, which increased both his popularity and wealth as well. Once back from tour, Jacob entered the studio and started working on his debut full-length album; “Why?”, which came out on the 9th September 2016, and reached No. 25 on the Independent Albums chart, but failed to enter the Billboard 200 chart.
When it comes to his personal life, Jacob was in a relationship with singer and actress Bea Miller from 2015 to 2016; the couple met during their time on “The X Factor”. Most recently, he was linked with the Canadian actress, Lennon Stella, however, the two are yet to confirm their relationship.
