A native of Eastman, Willie actually grew up in migrant farm communities based in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, along with ten siblings. After finishing high school, Willie enrolled at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he started playing football. Thanks to his great performance, he received a full scholarship, which certainly helped his financial status. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, after which he furthered his education by enrolling at North Carolina Central University in Durham, from which he obtained Juris Doctor degree three years later. Willie returned to Stuart and took the Florida Bar exam and was admitted, after which Willie started the first black law firm in Martin County, Gary, Williams, Parenti, Finney, Lewis, McManus, Watson & Sperando, P.L.
